Akiko #4: Gosh-a-rooty! What a wonderful book. I just love the look of astonishment and horror on Spuckler's and Mr. Beeba's faces when Akiko asks them if Alia Rellapor is going to kill the Prince, as if they couldn't conceive of such a ghastly thing. That's an amazing bit of storytelling, that sequence is. It's also chock-full of such wonderful lines as "Never ask what somethin' is before you eat it, Akiko." Advice for the ages there, folks. More than anything else, Akiko reminds me of early Zot!, and that's high praise, indeed. The dream that Akiko has is pretty fun, too.
